The Black Dog is the coolest pub between Brixton and Hoxton, and serves good food and a nice selection of beers including Brooklyn Lager. Weirdly it is closed on Saturdays but that does mean it can be hired for private parties on that day.
Morrissey
Morrissey used to drink in the Dog House pub*. His song Spring-Heeled Jim features dialogue from We Are The Lambeth Boys, an iconic documentary about a Kennington youth club in the late 1950s. And of course Morrissey’s album West Kennington & I was named after the area.
