The top ten best restaurants in Kennington – no. 6 – Doost Persian Grill

Positives: About 65% of our Kennington takeaways over the years have been from Doost. The food is simply delicious. The chelo kabab koobideh (lamb kebab) is one of the things we miss most from our meat eating days, although their veggie kebab is great too. We’ve never had a bad dish there. Even their rice is next level.

Negatives: We just can’t understand why it isn’t full all the time!

The Top Ten Best Restaurants in Kennington – no. 8 – Doost Persian Grill & Vodka Bar

Positives: Persian food is really nice and distinct from other cuisines. Doost do it well, with a menu that offers a lot of explanation of the dishes. It’s also a vodka bar (these were widespread in Iran before the revolution). And they have a very cheery sign outside:

Negatives: It’s fairly pricey for Kennington, with mains ranging from £10 to £19.90. And, while the restaurant is classy, the website is not.

Doost Persian Grill & Vodka Bar

Doost – a Persian Grill & Vodka Bar

Doost is a Persian Grill & Vodka Bar that opened in the site Amici outgrew on Kennington Road. A Persian Grill & Vodka Bar might seem like a strange combination, but apparently vodka bars were widespread in Iran before the Islamic Revolution, and the food is really nice if not cheap. Their website appears to have been inspired by Hooters but despite that, it’s neither tacky nor unrefined.
